Case VM-SA-001
Help an Indian Migrant Worker Resolve a Crisis in Saudi Arabia
The situation
An Indian migrant worker travelled to Saudi Arabia approximately one and a half years ago in search of better employment and income opportunities for his family.
Unfortunately, the expected overtime opportunities were not available and his income was lower than anticipated. Due to financial difficulties, he left his employment without properly informing his employer and attempted to move towards another work opportunity.
Following this, a case was filed against him by his company, and he is currently in custody in Saudi Arabia.
During assistance and coordination, a possible resolution has been identified requiring 10,000 SAR, subject to the applicable legal process and completion of the necessary formalities.
The worker is the sole breadwinner for his family. His wife and six children are in India and have very limited means of support.
His family has already arranged ₹1,00,000, and a further ₹50,000 has been received through community support. ₹1,00,000 more is currently required.
The worker's identity has been withheld at the family's request to protect his privacy and safety.
