Draft — not yet approved

This page is a working draft and must be reviewed and approved by NexGen Foundation before launch.

Important Notice

Videsh Mitra is a humanitarian support initiative and does not have governmental, diplomatic, police, immigration or judicial authority. Submission of a case does not guarantee rescue, financial assistance, repatriation or any particular outcome. Each case is assessed individually, and assistance depends on the circumstances, applicable laws, cooperation of relevant authorities and available resources.

No official authority

Videsh Mitra is a humanitarian support initiative of NexGen Foundation. It is not a government body. It has no governmental, diplomatic, police, immigration, judicial or enforcement authority of any kind.

We do not replace government authorities, embassies and consulates, the police, courts, or licensed legal professionals. Our role is to facilitate access, coordination and support between a person in distress and the people and institutions who can act.

No guaranteed outcome

Submitting a case does not guarantee rescue, financial assistance, repatriation, legal representation, or any particular result. Each case is assessed individually. What is possible depends on the circumstances, the applicable laws of the country involved, the cooperation of the relevant authorities, and the resources available to us at the time.

We will be honest with you about what we can and cannot do in your case, including when the answer is that we cannot help.

Not legal, medical or financial advice

Nothing on this website is legal, medical, immigration or financial advice. Information here is general and may not apply to your situation. Where a case needs professional advice, we aim to connect you with an appropriate qualified professional or authority.

Emergencies

This website is not an emergency service. If there is an immediate danger to life or safety, contact local emergency services where the worker is, and the nearest Indian Embassy or Consulate, without waiting for a response from us.

Our team is currently available Mon – Sat, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm IST. Cases submitted outside those hours are recorded immediately and picked up when the team is next available.

Field representatives and volunteers

Field representatives and volunteers act on behalf of Videsh Mitra only within the role described to them. They have no governmental, diplomatic, police, immigration or enforcement powers, and they cannot make commitments on behalf of any authority.

Third parties

Where we refer a case to another organisation, professional or authority, that party acts independently and is responsible for its own conduct, advice and decisions.

Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.

Fraud warning

Videsh Mitra never charges a worker or a family for assistance, and never asks for payment through this website. If anyone asks you for money in our name, please tell us.

Accuracy

We try to keep this website accurate and current, but we make no warranty that it is complete or error-free, and it may change without notice.
